London is a fantastic city for so many reasons, from its history to architecture, Royal ties, shopping, food and culture. Yet, something very special about London is how great it is for the Harry Potter fans out there! There are spots around the city where the movies were actually filmed, as well as some great places that are Harry Potter inspired to really help you feel immersed in the world of Harry Potter.
We’d advise parking in central London and then using the tube to do your exploring for the day! So, let’s get into it and help you prepare to see some great Harry Potter sightseeing spots around London.
Harry Potter Studios
Of course, Harry Potter studios in Watford should definitely be at the top of your list if you’re a Harry Potter fan, and although this isn’t in London but is a train or drive away in Watford, it’s the best experience you could wish for as a Harry Potter fan. It literally has everything you could want, from sets and props to costumes, special effects and art! Plus, there’s a cafe and everything there, so you can really spend the whole day there, and you should as there is so much to see and do. As far as Harry Potter tourism in the UK goes, this is absolutely at the top of the list. So, why not do a day at the studios and then head into London to enjoy all of the sight seeing spots we’re about to introduce!

Harry Potter Escape Room
First up, if you’re wanting to start your Harry Potter themed sight seeing day with a fun group activity, you definitely should go to the Harry Potter Escape room! It lasts an hour and groups of between two and five can go in, where you can attempt to graduate from Hogwarts. With different puzzles needing to be solved to escape, a final exam will test your knowledge on all things potions, charms and defence against the dark arts! The attention to detail here is incredible and you really will feel immersed in the experience. Make sure to book in advance though to avoid getting disappointed!
Platform 9¾
Next up we have an absolute classic which is Platform 9¾! Head over to King’s Cross station in the centre of London, then of course go towards platforms 9 and 10, where you will then see the magical platform. Get involved and take some fun pictures with the trolley on the wall, then head to the Harry Potter shop just next to the platform where you can get yourself some great souvenirs to remember your time at the platform.
The Cauldron Bar
Another great place to visit if you really want to get involved with potions is The Cauldron Bar. This is a cocktail fully inspired by Harry Potter, where you can get creative and pick from some really cool cocktails, then sit back and enjoy the great surroundings! Or, you can learn to make a potion of your own with the cocktail making classes! This is really immersive, so of course you’ll be wearing a cloak and working with a magic wand.
Reptile House, London Zoo
We all know the famous scene in the 1st Harry Potter (The Sorcerer’s Stone) at the reptile house where Dudley Dursley is stuck in the enclosure with the snake, and this was all filmed at London Zoo! The Zoo is located in Regent’s Park and is a fantastic place that also houses a research centre to help conserve numerous different species. So, it’s definitely worth a visit anyway, but the added bonus of the Harry Potter scene being filmed there makes it all the more special!

Harry Potter and The Cursed Child
If you’re a fan of the theatre, then you definitely need to go to the West End to see Harry Potter and The Cursed Child! This is a fantastic show that takes place after Harry Potter’s children have gone to Hogwarts. It is usually on at the Palace Theatre in the West End, so there is so much around there for you to enjoy before heading into the theatre. Even if you can’t get tickets to this show, go and have a look around the theatre and perhaps go and see a different show as there are so many fantastic ones throughout the year in the West End.
